russ got a new....

GRILLE! if you read one of my earlier posts you know that russ decided to play with fire and gas a few sundays ago....he has been saving up his bonus to buy something so we decided to furnish our new deck! one of those items was a new grille! we love to grille out so last week he went and picked one out! tonight he is putting it together (i'm glad i didn't take on the task...there are alot of pieces!) i was surprised he didn't go with the stainless steel grille...he wanted the red one but we both decided the vanilla/ivory color would look best with our new furniture....now we are anxious for grass and a fence....someday....

i went and met my girlfriend jenn for a walk at wash park tonight (monday) and so russ came home and got busy on his grille! he decided to put it together on our living room floor (it's clean so it's okay :) ) i just got done cooking dinner and now he's back at it...i'm waiting for him to get pre-occupied so i can turn on the bachelorette :)

moses....

as many of you know moses (russ's mastiff) has been living with his cousin and his family since we moved into our new house. he is a wonderful dog and loved the kids but his cousin and family might be moving out of our rental house soon. we love moses but we were not able to give him the love and attention he needs and deserves....we decided it would be best to find him a home that welcomes him and loves big dogs.
i put an add on craigslist wednesday morning and got about 20 responses of people who were very interested. i made a few appointments to meet them this week (some bailed - which is very rude especially when you plan for it and they cancel 20 minutes before!) i even had a response from someone in billings, montana!

we took him to get a bath (he didn't want to get out of the car so he laid down) and then took him to the vet to get up-to-date on his shots on saturday.

we found him a home...he was the first one who responded and they live in denver. they have a 6 month old italian mastiff and a 6 month old daughter. they had a very nice house and they love big dogs. the italian mastiff (charger) and moses got along great instantly! moses couldn't play for long...he is 150 lbs so he would sit and charger would just pounce on him to play...it was really cute.

it was hard to say good bye...it was mixed feelings of - sad that we failed at giving such a wonderful dog love and care and happy that we found him a loving home that is going to take such good care of him. we love you mo!

weekends are busy!

on thursday night we got to see ashley, jordan, and payton! it was so much fun to see them and to go out to dinner. payton is so precious and just has the sweetest personality!

friday night we had a landscaper come over to give us a bid and he stayled a little too LONG! i wish his price would have been a little less but let's just say that i'm not used to the competition of bids...russ was a little annoyed with me because i was sharing other bids we had got...i was trying to save him time by measuring but oops the prices were on there so he had an idea of what to beat. i have learned my lesson...sorry russ!

saturday we started by doing some things around the house...i put together our new patio table...dad aren't you proud of me?! and russ started tearing into one of the walls that will connect the 2 houses (our walk-in closet :) that is going to be fabulous!!) then we had to tend to moses (next post to come)...later that evening we went out to one of my new favorite restaurants called Highland Pacific http://www.blogger.com/Highland%20Pacific with our friends matt and jenn and then we went and saw cross canadian ragweed at a country dance hall.

sunday we went to church and then did a little of the same as saturday!

we have a roof, electric, and A/C!!!

our house has come along way in just 1 week!! we hired a couple of guys to do the roof and they were amazingly fast! they did have to battle some major rain storms and i did kinda sound like a mom to them making sure they got off the roof if there was lightening.

monday the electrician came and tuesday the A/C and heating guys came and were also amazingly fast!

next we are hoping for drywall! it's very exciting!

eventful sunday evening...

russ has been working really really hard on our house...we finished part of our deck and we decided to bring the grille out from the garage and cook out some steaks! russ went out to turn on the grille and the gas tank burst into flames...he came running in yelling "where's the fire extinguisher!!!" of course we didn't have one (we have added that to the list of things to get next to a new grille!)...i ran to the computer and googled on how to get out a gas grille flame and it said to get an extinguisher or to call 911....we had to call 911!! they came in less than 5 minutes and got the flame out....our new deck has a burn on it though :(

concert at red rocks

it's a perfect time of year for concerts at red rocks...not too hot and not too cold. we went and saw a denver band big head todd and the monsters...it was a great time and a perfect night!

i love these precious babies in texas....

everytime i go home to texas it is always so much fun - first of all because i get to hang with my wonderful family and then an extra bonus is to see all of the precious babies!! of course some of them are becoming big boys and girls but they will always be "the babies"

here are some of my favorite pictures :)

we have walls!

the guys that have built the shell of our house are AMAZING! they get so much done every single day...such hard workers...thanks to them we can see what russ has designed! he did such a wonderful job!

texas here we come!!

wow i can't believe that my baby sister graduated...it makes me feel kind of old! i remember when she was born and even taking her to kindergarten with my mom when i was 15!

she has matured into such a beautiful young woman and she is so smart, talented, and beautiful. she is going to do great in college and i can't wait to see what happens in her life!
congrats hills!

here are some pictures of our fabulous, fun-filled, busy weekend! i love my family!!

the peacefulness of the rest of house...

at least we can come in here and escape from the reality of the mess that is going on outside...the floors might be a little dirty but i have officially given up on mopping everyday....but we do love coming into our house and just shutting the door :)

a foundation!

so the rain finally stopped and they were able to pour our foundation....we were sure glad to have the mud pit away! i had to bust out the pink hard hat that russ got me last year....makes it look i was working :)

but it's still here :(

the beginning of a house...

okay so i have been a little busy and have not been able to post and unfortunately i can't remember the days this all happened! the skies in the picture look beautiful but we've been having a lot of rain lately so this part of the process was delayed a few days.
