one of these days....

russ and i often talk about what it would be like to have a "normal" weekend....a weekend that doesn't include power tools, dust, work clothes, being dirty, etc. one of these days we will know. all i can say is i'm thankful we don't have kiddos running around right now. these kind of things would just not be possible!

our project today has been....lauren: pick up the yard and help russ with his project. russ: tear out our front door = major mess (my job has been to clean up after him :) )

one of these days we'll have a weekend with no projects....we will turn to each other and say what do we do with all of our spare time?

i'm hoping i can sneak away to the pool tomorrow after church :)) i'm sneaking away right now too....i think i better go help.

california oh how i miss you...

last weekend russ and i took off for a long, much needed weekend away! we went to california for his cousin eric's wedding! it was a beautiful wedding right on the beach! the whole wedding was really pretty...we had a great time! we stayed at the hilton (that is where they got married) and it was gorgeous! would highly recommend it (it was pricey but worth it!)

russ and i got engaged june 30th last year in california so it was fun to go back! it's amazing how fast time goes by!

we didn't do any touristy stuff we just relaxed...we went from beach to pool and pool to beach and occasionally we ventured out to the pier and main street.

i love the beach.

this guy gives austin a bad name!

if anyone is watching the bachelorette....this guy is killing me!! he's such a jerk and unfortunately he's from austin!

i was happy to see him go tonight!

4th of july and 1st birthday!

saturday was the 4th of july and russ worked on the house and i cleaned out my closet in the morning and then we went over to his cousin rebecca's house for her son tannon's first birthday!

it was a very rainy day so we were inside most of the afternoon and evening. we got home about 9 and our neighbors had a pretty good fireworks show...val was barking at them :)

1 year old is such a fun age...he is walking all over the place and LOVED his cake (he had never had icing or cake) and he loved all of his new toys...too cute!

like clockwork....

i know all of my blog friends are living in a major hot heat right now....we are living in major rainy weather. it seriously starts raining at about 2 or 3 every day...it is beautiful to see the foothills with green grass and i am grateful for the rain but our yard not so much....
i dream of green grass often...someday...someday

fun friday off??

i love having a 3 day weekend! it sometimes feels like a mini-vacation. russ decided on his day off to start the "list" bright and early (i was still in my pajamas...ps i'm not a morning person but i am figuring out that i might have to turn into one). my list consisted of returning things and also getting an adjustment on our patio furniture (it went on sale and sears reimburses you! we got $150 back :))


once i made it back home we had a whole in our window! wasn't prepared for that!!! amazingly russ got it all finished for the drywallers to come in and do their magic. on the front of our existing house we had a window in our bedroom and a front door....to tie the addition into the existing house we are making a larger opening at the front door and in our bedroom there is a walk-in closet coming out...kinda hard to imagine but you'll have to come visit us to see it :) as you can see this project brought the mess inside....drywall = dusty!
